Choy Lee Fut really is effective as long as you have a teacher that
knows his stuff. In my opinion i'd rather learn from a teacher who has
actually used his gung fu in street fights.
anyways, here is a small statement from my grandstudent who this week had to use his CLF for the first time.
"I started learning Choy Lee Fut, about a year ago. I don't exactly
know why I started, perhaps it was my general interest in martial arts,
or possibly my interest in what I had seen. I'll never know for sure,
but I'm glad I did. When I first started , I was amazed at how
effective the few simple stances and punches I learned were. I had done
other martial arts in the past, but I'd never seen one capable of such
brutality with so little an effort. I quickly learned to use these
simple principals, both in form and practical application. As a person
who used to be be a boxer and Judo practitioner, I was further
impressed with my new found ability's when sparing. Never before had
fighting been so simple or as enjoyable to me. Now don't get me wrong,
I'm not a large person, and I'm not very strong. But after training for
a few weeks, none of that mattered anymore. I gained the ability and
confidence necessary, to fight people twice my <myspace>size</myspace>
and strength, and win. Fighting outside of a ring, or non-sportsmen
like situation is and should be frowned upon. However there are times
in our lives, when we must take a stand and defend ourselves, or suffer
the consequences. I came from a middle <myspace>size</myspace>d
town in Kansas, it was not a bad place to live, and it had a relatively
low crime rate, but later in my life I moved to Los Angeles. There is
an overabundance of people here, and most of them are generally good
people. But as with any large scale city, there are people who wouldn't
think twice about harming them selfs or anyone around them to get what
they want. I recently encountered one such person, who became adamantly
violent with me, over a trivial material object. Within seconds I found
myself alone in a dangerous situation. I quickly became involved in
this physical altercation, which ended with me dealing some serious
damage to my large non-friendly companion, without taking a scratch. If
i hadn't learned Choy Lee Fut, I don't know what kind of harm this man
would have done to me, but I know it would not have been pleasant. I
had never been so thankful, of the lessons and training I had received
until then. Looking back on my life I realize, learning Choy Lee Fut
was one of the best decisions I've ever made.I can walk in the worst
part of town, alone, at night, unafraid, Because I know, I have enough
strength, confidence, and self control to surpass any challenge in my
life with flying colors. And to think, the first step was as easy as
learning to stand...."
